The Full Story

Rodney Rawls, a proud native of Dare County, has dedicated his life to serving his community. A graduate of Manteo High School in 2002, Rodney embarked on his service journey at just 13 years old by joining the junior fire service. Since beginning his law enforcement career in 2004 with Kill Devil Hills, he has excelled in various roles, currently serving as a Master Patrol Sergeant. His commitment to public safety has earned him numerous accolades, including the North Carolina Advanced Law Enforcement in 2015 and the Hometown Hero Public Safety Award in 2017. Rodney graduated from the West Point Leadership Program at Methodist University in 2017. Rodney also received a Certificate of Appreciation from the Veterans of Foreign Wars in 2019. Rodney continues to serve as a volunteer firefighter for Kill Devil Hills and was recognized as the Firefighter of the year in 2020 and 2022. Rodney also served with Dare County EMS from 2013 until 2025, showcasing his unwavering dedication to his community and profession. Rodney completed his foster parent training in 2022, and adopted his daughter in 2024.

Rodney Rawls has been dedicated to serving his community from a young age and remains passionate about making a positive impact in Dare County. He looks forward to collaborating with residents to enhance the quality of life, ensuring it’s a wonderful place to live, work, and raise a family.
